Every Knee Shall Bow
Philippians 2:9–11
“At the name of Jesus every knee should bow… and every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.”

Volume IV began with the mind of Christ—His humility, service, and obedience to death. It ends with the Father’s answer: Jesus is highly exalted.
The downward way of self-giving love was not defeat. God has bestowed upon the Son the name above every name, revealing the true shape of wisdom and power.
Every knee will bow—in heaven, on earth, and under the earth. No corner of creation and no rival claim will remain outside the unveiled lordship of Jesus.
Every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. The truth Christians speak now with gentleness will one day be universally manifest.
This confession is to the glory of God the Father. The Son’s exaltation does not compete with the Father; divine glory is revealed in their perfect unity.
The renewed mind learns to live beneath this future verdict now. It sees truth, orders love, imagines hope, and speaks publicly with Christ’s lordship as its center.
Because Jesus will be acknowledged by all, we need neither panic nor domination in witness. We can reason patiently, serve courageously, and entrust judgment to Him.
Bow gladly today. Offer thought, desire, imagination, speech, and action to the Lord whose humble mind has become our pattern and whose exalted name is our hope.

Lewis portrayed God’s purpose as the formation of a new humanity whose life derives from Christ rather than the polishing of independent selves.
Paul reveals the center and destination of that humanity: the humbled and exalted Jesus, universally confessed as Lord to the Father’s glory.
A Prayer
Lord Jesus,
Exalted Lord Jesus, I bow before the name above every name.
Gather every thought, love, hope, word, and action beneath Your gracious rule. Keep me humble in witness, courageous in obedience, and confident in Your final victory.
Form Your new humanity in us until every tongue confesses and all creation gives glory to the Father. Amen.
