What baptism means

A visible picture of the gospel.

In baptism, a believer publicly identifies with the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus. Going beneath the water pictures the old life laid down; rising again celebrates the new life Christ gives.

Baptism does not earn salvation. It is the response of someone who has received salvation by grace through faith and now desires to follow Christ openly.

“We were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead … even so we also should walk in newness of life.”Romans 6:4
