All Things Made New
Revelation 21:1–7
“Behold, I make all things new.”
Revelation 21:1–7 (NKJV)
John sees a new heaven and a new earth, and the holy city comes down from God. The biblical story ends not with creation discarded but with heaven and earth joined beneath God’s reign.
The loudest promise is personal: the dwelling of God is with humanity. Every lesser hope is gathered into His unveiled presence.
He will wipe every tear from their eyes. God does not treat grief as an abstraction; He attends to the sorrow of His people with intimate final comfort.
Death, mourning, crying, and pain will be no more. These enemies feel ancient, but Revelation declares them former things whose appointed end is certain.
The One on the throne says He makes all things new—not merely all new things. Redemption reaches what sin has scarred and restores creation according to divine faithfulness.
The thirsty receive freely from the spring of the water of life. The future remains grace; no one purchases entrance into the city Christ has secured.
The conqueror inherits as a child: ‘I will be his God and he shall be My son.’ Victory culminates in belonging, not self-exaltation.
Bring your thirst and tears before this promise. Let the coming presence of God give courage for grief, resistance to death’s ways, and hope for every faithful labor.

Lewis reflected on heaven as the fulfillment, not erasure, of the person God intended—where holy desires find their source and redeemed creatures become most truly themselves.
John anchors such hope in the reigning God: He dwells with His people, ends death and pain, gives living water freely, and makes all things new.
A Prayer
Lord Jesus,
God who sits upon the throne, hold every tear beneath Your promise of final comfort.
Keep me from treating death, pain, or ruin as permanent. Give me freely the water of life and form in me the endurance of Your children.
Make present faithfulness a witness to the day when You dwell with us and make all things new. Amen.
