The Lamb upon the Throne
Revelation 5:6–14
“Worthy is the Lamb who was slain to receive power and riches and wisdom.”

John weeps because no one is worthy to open the scroll of history. Creation cannot bring God’s purpose to completion or explain its own suffering.
He is told to behold a conquering Lion, but when he looks he sees a Lamb standing as slain. Divine victory arrives through sacrificial love.
The Lamb bears the wounds of death yet stands alive at the center of the throne. The cross is not an interruption of sovereignty; it reveals the holy manner in which God reigns and redeems.
He takes the scroll, and heaven erupts in worship. History is not abandoned to chaos because its meaning and future rest in the pierced hands of Jesus.
The new song celebrates redemption by blood from every tribe, language, people, and nation. Christ’s kingdom neither erases human difference nor allows it to remain divided by hostility.
The redeemed become a kingdom and priests. Worship before the throne prepares them to serve God and bear His presence within renewed creation.
Every creature finally joins the song. Praise expands from elders and angels to the farthest reaches of creation, returning blessing and honor to God and the Lamb.
When events appear sealed and tears come easily, look again. The Lamb is standing, the scroll is in His hand, and sacrificial love will have the final word.

Tozer described divine sovereignty as God’s absolute freedom and authority to accomplish His eternal purpose without being defeated by created power.
Revelation 5 shows sovereignty in cruciform glory. The One who rules history is the Lamb who was slain, and His victory gathers a worshiping people from every nation.
A Prayer
Holy God,
Sovereign God, receive the history I cannot open and the suffering I cannot explain.
Lamb who was slain, let Your wounds define power and Your resurrection govern my hope. Gather Your church beyond every hostile division.
Teach me to worship within uncertainty, knowing the scroll rests securely in Your hand. Amen.
