From Everlasting to Everlasting
Psalm 90:1–4
“Even from everlasting to everlasting, You are God.”
Psalm 90:1–4 (NKJV)
Moses begins with dwelling: ‘Lord, You have been our dwelling place in all generations.’ Before mountains existed or history began, God was already home for His people.
Creation has a beginning; God does not. He is from everlasting to everlasting—not stretched thin across endless years, but eternally and fully God.
Our lives are brief, and Psalm 90 refuses to hide it. Generations rise and return to dust while a thousand years remain like yesterday before the Eternal One.
This difference humbles our urgency. We treat the immediate as ultimate because our sight is short. God holds beginning, present, and end without anxiety.
His eternity does not make Him remote from time. The One beyond time attends every generation, hears today’s prayer, and becomes a refuge within our passing days.
In the incarnation, the eternal Son entered created history. He accepted infancy, growth, waiting, suffering, and death, then rose with indestructible life.
Therefore our brief lives are not meaningless. Joined to Christ, moments can bear eternal fruit, and mortality becomes the threshold of resurrection rather than disappearance.
Rest your unfinished story in the everlasting God. He was faithful before your first breath, remains your dwelling now, and will be God beyond your final earthly day.

Tozer reflected on divine eternity to free believers from imagining God as merely very old or subject to time’s succession as creatures are.
Psalm 90 turns that mystery into refuge. Because God does not pass away, finite people and fleeting generations can dwell securely in Him.
A Prayer
Holy God,
Eternal God, You were our dwelling before the mountains were born and will remain when every age has passed.
Humble my anxious urgency and teach me to number my days beneath Your unhurried wisdom.
Thank You that the eternal Son entered time for us. Join my brief life to His risen life and make each day faithful. Amen.
