All Creation Praises
Psalm 148
“Let them praise the name of the Lord, for He commanded and they were created.”
Psalm 148 (NKJV)
Psalm 148 conducts a choir larger than humanity. Angels, sun, moon, stars, highest heavens, and waters above are summoned to praise the Lord.
Creation praises because God commanded and it came to be. Everything else receives existence; God alone is uncreated, dependent upon nothing beyond Himself.
The song descends to sea creatures, weather, mountains, trees, animals, and birds. No part of the material world is beneath the purpose of giving glory to its Maker.
Fire, hail, snow, clouds, and stormy wind fulfill His word. Forces that appear wild to us remain creatures beneath divine authority.
Kings and ordinary people, young and old, are called into one worshiping assembly. Rank, age, and strength create no exemption from creaturely dependence.
The Lord’s name alone is exalted. Creation may reveal His wisdom and power, but it must never be confused with or worshiped in place of its Creator.
God raises strength for His people and draws them near. The transcendent Creator is also the covenant Lord who gives His people a song of redemption.
Join what creation is already declaring. Receive the world as gift, care for it as God’s workmanship, and let every beauty lead beyond itself to the One whose glory is above earth and heaven.

Tozer reflected on God’s self-existence: God alone has life in Himself, while every creature depends moment by moment upon His will and generosity.
Psalm 148 answers that reality with universal praise. Dependence is not humiliation but the joyful truth that creation receives life from the One whose name alone is exalted.
A Prayer
Holy God,
Uncreated God, all things exist because You commanded, and every breath I receive depends upon Your goodness.
Keep me from worshiping the gifts of creation while neglecting their Maker. Teach me to care faithfully for what belongs to You.
Let my voice join heaven and earth in praising the name that alone is exalted. Amen.
