The God Who Knows
Psalm 139:1–12
“O Lord, You have searched me and known me.”

Psalm 139 begins not with information God possesses but with personal knowledge: You have searched me. Every movement, thought, word, and hidden motive lies open before Him.
God knows a word before it reaches the tongue. He sees the impulse beneath polished speech and the need beneath confused silence.
Such knowledge may first feel unsettling. We manage impressions because being fully known by others can lead to rejection, control, or shame.
But the psalmist is hemmed in by God’s presence and held by His hand. The One who knows completely is also the One whose care surrounds completely.
No travel escapes Him—not heaven, the grave, the farthest sea, or darkness. Distance and concealment cannot interrupt the faithful presence of God.
Darkness is as light to Him. The places we cannot interpret are never obscure to divine wisdom; no grief or future arrives before His eyes unannounced.
Christ knew people beneath appearances and still moved toward them in truth and mercy. At the cross He bore the judgment of the fully known sinner so we could live openly before the Father.
Release the labor of hiding. God’s knowledge is already complete, and in Christ His welcome is secure. Ask to become truthful beneath the gaze that never loses you.

Tozer taught that God knows all things perfectly and immediately, without discovery, forgetting, or uncertainty. No fact can surprise or revise His understanding.
For the believer, omniscience becomes shelter as well as searching light. The God who knows the worst has provided Christ, and the God who knows the future guides without anxiety.
A Prayer
Holy God,
All-knowing God, You see every thought, word, motive, memory, and possibility.
Free me from hiding and from fear of the places I cannot understand. Search me with truth held inside perfect mercy.
Thank You that Christ has answered my guilt and secured my welcome. Lead me in honest fellowship beneath Your knowing gaze. Amen.
