Wait Silently for God
Psalm 62
“Truly my soul silently waits for God; from Him comes my salvation.”
Psalm 62 (NKJV)
David speaks to his own soul: ‘Wait silently for God alone.’ Silence is not natural to a threatened heart, so faith must repeatedly call the inner life back from its frantic arguments.
God alone is rock, salvation, and fortress. The repeated word ‘alone’ removes rival foundations. Influence, planning, reputation, and wealth may serve us, but none can bear the soul’s final weight.
Enemies attack like men trying to topple a leaning wall. David feels vulnerable, yet he interprets his vulnerability through the stability of God rather than interpreting God through the instability of circumstances.
Waiting is active dependence. It refuses to force an outcome through manipulation while remaining ready to obey whatever God makes clear.
The psalm invites the whole community: trust Him at all times and pour out your heart before Him. Silence before God is not emotional suppression. We empty the heart honestly and then rest beneath His care.
People of every station are lighter than breath when placed on the scale. Human approval and power cannot supply the substance our hearts expect from them.
God has spoken: power belongs to Him, and steadfast love belongs to Him. His strength is never separated from covenant love, so waiting upon His power need not become dread.
Return to quiet trust as often as noise rises. Your hope does not come from predicting what happens next. It comes from the God who is your rock before, during, and after the answer.

Tozer called attention to the God who still addresses His people through the living truth of Scripture. Attentiveness requires quieting the competing voices that dominate the soul.
Psalm 62 joins listening with honest outpouring. We speak the whole heart to God, then wait upon the One whose power and steadfast love have already been revealed.
A Prayer
Holy God,
God alone, settle my soul upon You as my rock and salvation.
Receive the heart I pour out before You. Silence the demand for control, recognition, and immediate answers.
Let Your power free me from fear and Your steadfast love make waiting a place of communion. Amen.
