The Lord Stood with Me
2 Timothy 4:14–18
“But the Lord stood with me and strengthened me.”
2 Timothy 4:14–18 (NKJV)
Paul remembers a first defense at which no one stood with him. Scripture permits the sentence to remain painful and plain.
He asks that the abandonment not be charged against them. The grace of Christ interrupts loneliness before it becomes vengeance.
Human companions failed, but the Lord stood with Paul and strengthened him. Divine presence did not erase the wound; it prevented the wound from becoming the whole story.
Strength was given for proclamation so the message might be fully heard. God’s companionship turns outward toward mission.
Paul speaks of rescue from the lion and confidence in final deliverance, even while facing death. Rescue is larger than survival.
The Lord will preserve him for the heavenly kingdom. No courtroom can issue the ultimate verdict over a life kept by Christ.
When others fail us, we may grieve truthfully without declaring ourselves abandoned by God.
Notice where the Lord is standing with you now. Receive His strength, release judgment to Him, and use the breath He gives for faithful witness.

Isolation is a defining setting of many of Wurmbrand’s reflections, yet the testimony is not finally about being alone.
Paul gives language to that paradox: companions may fail and circumstances may remain dangerous, while the Lord stands near and carries His servant toward the heavenly kingdom.
A Prayer
Lord Jesus,
Faithful Lord, stand with those who face accusation or isolation for Your name.
Heal the wound of human abandonment and keep it from becoming resentment. Strengthen me for the work still entrusted to me.
Preserve Your people for Your heavenly kingdom, and receive all glory. Amen.
