A Better Possession
Hebrews 10:32–39
“Knowing that you have a better and an enduring possession for yourselves in heaven.”

Hebrews asks believers to remember days when public identification with Christ brought suffering, reproach, and loss.
Their endurance was not indifference to what was taken. They accepted real loss because faith had shown them a better and enduring possession.
Homes, work, safety, and community are good trusts, but none can bear the weight of becoming our final security.
When a possession becomes the condition of obedience, it begins to possess us. Fear of losing it quietly negotiates the limits of faithfulness.
Christ gives treasure no confiscation can reach: reconciliation with God, belonging in His kingdom, and an inheritance kept by His power.
This confidence made compassion possible. They shared the shame of prisoners because their security no longer depended on remaining untouched.
Endurance is needed because promise and fulfillment are often separated by a costly interval.
Name what you fear losing. Receive it gratefully, hold it openly, and ask Christ to become more precious than every gift entrusted for a season.

Wurmbrand tells of Christians whose homes, livelihoods, freedom, and family life were threatened because of allegiance to Jesus.
Their witness does not make deprivation desirable. It reveals how Christ frees believers to remain faithful when earthly securities are removed.
A Prayer
Lord Jesus,
Lord Jesus, You are the treasure no power can confiscate.
Forgive me where fear of loss governs my obedience. Teach me to receive earthly gifts without asking them to become my security.
Strengthen my confidence in Your promise and make me willing to stand beside those who suffer. Amen.
