Always Ready
1 Peter 3:13–17
“Always be ready to give a defense… with meekness and fear.”

Peter speaks to believers who may suffer for doing good. Their first preparation is to sanctify Christ as Lord in the heart.
Readiness begins with allegiance before it becomes an answer. Speech is steadied by the One who already governs fear.
The hope within Christians should become visible enough to awaken sincere questions.
A defense is then offered with gentleness and reverence, never with contempt for the person asking.
A clear conscience matters because conduct can either support the answer or contradict it.
Gentleness does not weaken conviction. It shows that our confidence rests in Christ rather than dominance.
We cannot script every conversation, but we can dwell in Scripture, practice telling the gospel plainly, and listen carefully.
Prepare the heart, not merely the argument. Let hope become visible and give the next answer in the manner of Jesus.

Peter’s instruction reveals Christian readiness as more than verbal skill: Christ is honored inwardly, hope is embodied, and truth is spoken gently.
A Prayer
Lord Jesus,
Lord Jesus, be sanctified as Lord in my heart.
Make hope visible in my conduct and give words when questions come. Remove contempt, panic, and the need to win.
Grant gentleness, reverence, and a clear conscience under pressure. Amen.
