A People for His Name

Peter begins with Christ, the living Stone rejected by people and chosen by God. The church’s identity can only be understood in relation to Him.

Coming to Christ, believers themselves become living stones. God is not collecting isolated spiritual experiences but building a dwelling in which His presence and praise are made known.

Stones must be joined. Their placement limits private preference and creates shared strength. Christian belonging includes the patient shaping required to become a people.

Peter gathers covenant names—chosen generation, royal priesthood, holy nation, God’s own possession—and gives them to a community formed by mercy.

These titles are vocation, not vanity. The church is chosen to proclaim the excellencies of the One who called it from darkness into marvelous light.

A priestly people brings worship to God and carries the needs of the world in prayer. Holiness is consecration for loving service, never distance born of superiority.

Once we were not a people; now we are God’s people. Once without mercy; now recipients of mercy. Grace, not ethnicity, status, or achievement, is the foundation of our common life.

Let belonging become proclamation. As living stones receive one another around Christ, the world sees something of the mercy by which strangers become a household.
