Sent as the Son Was Sent

The disciples are behind locked doors when the risen Jesus comes among them. Mission begins not with fearless people but with frightened people met by the living Christ.

His first word is peace. Before they are sent, they receive the reconciliation accomplished through His wounds. The messenger carries a gift already given.

Jesus shows His hands and side. Resurrection has not erased the marks of sacrificial love. The church’s mission must therefore bear the shape of the cross rather than the methods of domination.

‘As the Father has sent Me’ gives both pattern and purpose: presence among people, truth joined to grace, compassion for the overlooked, and obedience willing to suffer.

Then Jesus breathes the Holy Spirit. Mission is not sustained by personality, strategy, or pressure. The breath of God empowers ordinary disciples to embody and announce the gospel.

The language of forgiveness gives the church a serious stewardship. We proclaim Christ’s promise to the repentant and name the bondage of sin truthfully; forgiveness remains His gift, never our possession.

Locked rooms still attract us. Fear of rejection, inadequacy, or conflict can shrink faith into private safety. Jesus enters, speaks peace, and opens the door from within.

Receive His peace, His Spirit, and His sending. You do not go alone or represent yourself. The wounded and risen Christ goes before you into the world He loves.
