The Armor of God
Ephesians 6:10–20
“Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.”

Paul does not tell believers to become strong in themselves. “Be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.” Spiritual warfare begins with received strength.
Our struggle is not against flesh and blood. People may oppose or wound us, but they are never the ultimate enemy. This truth keeps spiritual vigilance from becoming suspicion, cruelty, or contempt.
God supplies the whole armor. Truth steadies us against deception; Christ’s righteousness guards the heart; gospel peace readies our feet; faith receives the blow; salvation protects hope; and the Word answers lies.
Armor must be put on. Truth admired but not believed, Scripture owned but not remembered, and faith discussed but not exercised will not steady us when temptation arrives.
The shield of faith does not promise an absence of fiery darts. It meets accusation, fear, seduction, and despair with the character and promises of God.
The command repeated through the passage is stand. Some victories look less like dramatic advance and more like refusing to surrender ground Christ has already secured.
Prayer surrounds every piece of armor. We remain alert not only for ourselves but for all the saints, because battle is shared and isolated soldiers are vulnerable.
Begin this week clothed, not frightened. Name the lie, lift the promise, pray for another believer, and stand in strength that belongs to the Lord.

“Faith is like a shield, because it has to bear the blows.”
Spurgeon corrects the assumption that faith prevents every attack. Faith protects precisely in the place of conflict by placing God’s promises between the soul and the enemy’s lie.
The shield bears the mark of the cross, where Christ has already secured our final victory.
A Prayer
Lord Jesus,
Mighty Lord, I confess that my strength is insufficient, but Yours cannot fail.
Clothe me in truth, righteousness, peace, faith, salvation, and Your living Word. Expose the enemy’s lies and keep me from treating people as the enemy.
Make me watchful in prayer, steadfast in trial, and confident in the victory of Jesus. Amen.
