Then Face to Face

Much of the Christian life is lived with partial sight. We know God truly, yet not exhaustively. Providence contains shadows, prayer sometimes waits without explanation, and even Scripture leaves mysteries we cannot presently resolve.

Paul does not despise present knowledge. A dim reflection is still a real sight. God has made Himself known in Christ, and the Spirit gives enough light for trust, worship, and obedience.

But a greater knowing is coming: face to face. The hope of heaven is personal before it is informational. We will see the One whose presence we have sought through every promise.

Then we shall know as we are known. God already knows us completely—without misunderstanding, surprise, or withdrawal. Our future rests within that perfect knowledge and steadfast love.

Gifts that serve the church now will complete their purpose. Prophecy, tongues, and partial knowledge pass away, but love never fails because love belongs to the life of God.

The child becomes mature without scorning childhood. So present faith is not discarded as foolish; it reaches its appointed fulfillment when trust becomes sight.

This promise comforts every unanswered question. We need not force a tidy explanation for every sorrow. We may entrust what we cannot see to the Savior we will see.

Look through the mirror this week with patience. Receive the true light God has given, practice the love that will endure, and let anticipation rise: then, face to face.
